The Way We Were
The Facts Behind the Biazzo Name
Biazzo is not just our company name, Biazzo is our family name. For three generations, the Biazzo family has proudly used its name to stand behind its quality cheeses. Still family owned and operated after 50 years, the Biazzo reputation for fine, authentic Italian cheese has stood apart from the rest.
Old World isn’t old-fashioned. Old World is doing it the way it was meant to be done. The past 50 years have shown us many changes in the food industry. Although there have been many advances, there have also been an increase in shortcuts, fillers and unrecognizable and unpronounceable chemicals and other additives. Biazzo values the past, and we stake our name on it. The importance of our family name, reputation, and the tradition of our old world cheese-making methods and values assure our adherence to the "Old World" methods: Taking the time and care necessary to ensure that the best authentic, traditional cheese-making methods and recipes are always followed.

OUR HISTORY
Biazzo Dairy Products, Inc. was founded by John Biazzo and John Iapichino, Sr. and today it is a woman owned company and led by its President, Anna Iapichino (Biazzo), who has taken our company to where it is today. Biazzo has stood the test of time as a successful family owned business. Anna provides the leadership that helps drive Biazzo’s quality and success, Their two sons, John Iapichino, Jr., and Joseph Iapichino serve as Executive Vice President and General Manager, respectively. As a family owned business, we aren’t accountable to shareholders or a culture that requires companies to cut corners and reduce quality. We are only accountable to our customers, and we like it that way.
The Biazzo company started producing its cheeses in 1964 with a small manufacturing facility of about 500 square feet behind an Italian salumeria (think Italian deli!) in Paterson, New Jersey. Our cheeses were made and sold the same day they were produced to many local Italian salumerias and area food retailers.
It was in 1965 that our founders moved their manufacturing facility to larger quarters in Passaic, New Jersey. Biazzo was then in a stronger position to begin servicing local supermarket chains with private label Ricotta and Mozzarella cheese, and to distribute its own Biazzo brand products to the full metropolitan New York area. In 1993, due to the overwhelming demand for the Biazzo brand Ricotta and Mozzarella cheese, the Biazzo family decided to move operations to its current location, a larger 110,000 sq. ft. manufacturing plant in Ridgefield, New Jersey.
Today this is where Biazzo manufactures its’ premium line of Ricotta, Mozzarella, Fresh Mozzarella and specialty Italian cheeses with just 3 simple ingredients. Currently, Biazzo services four segments of customers nationwide: retail, foodservice, food ingredients and as co-packers for other Italian Cheese companies.
